![]() ![]() Is your motherboard set to AHCI mode for the ports (my guess is yes)?.Are there any firmware updates on the manufacturer's webpage? Do the firmware updates have any change log issues?.Looking around, you're not the only one with this problem: I presume that you have tried the ports with the Crucial SSD and it has retained the speeds?.It does not seem like a defective unit, considering you got 2, although I think it's possible that you have a bad batch? Hard drives I remember had these problems (ex: Seagate 7200.11, WD Caviar Green had issues, etc).If it is an incompatibility with a specific controller, then plugging it into the different ports would have solved the issue (ex: If the Marvell, JMicron, or Intel had problems with one of the controllers, the other would be ok).I don't think that it's your motherboard for one, because if it were, the Crucial would be very slow too.Of course, that does not explain the difference you have in performance. Question, are you using the PNY Optima with the SMI SM2246EN controller or the Sandforce SF-2281 version? So now I'm thinking it may be a chipset incompatibility issue or perhaps I need different drivers. I went in and bought a second identical drive thinking maybe the first one was just defective but I am getting the SAME exact issue. Initialized and quick formatted + assigned drive letter after boot up in windows.įormatting is also VERY slow. I'm Connected in Sata3 6GB/s with Sata3 cords (tried multiple cables and multiple ports) Description Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility V9.for Windows XP/Vista/Win7 32bit&64bit(WHQL). Description Marvell Controller Driver V1.Description JMicron JMB36X Controller Driver V1.17.58.2 Windows XP/Vista/7 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL).Made sure I had the latest drivers installed from ASUS website here: I'm getting around 10MB/s Read and Write. Something seemed off so I downloaded and ran AS SSD Benchmark. I was loading into matches AFTER they had started which I never experienced even with my slowest non-SSD drives. It was taking very long to launch the game and even longer to load into the game. Skip to yesterday, and I installed World of Tanks also on said drive. Once things were loaded everything played fine because it was running of the RAM mostly. I figured it may have been a game patch causing it and thought nothing of it. Installed Planetside 2 and game seemed to load much slower then previous HDD. So I purchased not long ago a PNY Optima SSD 240GB after having one of my 1TB 7200 RPM Samsung Spinpoints finally die on me. Skip ahead to next paragraph if you aren't interested. ![]()
